Pessac-Léognan

Quality heartland of the Graves appellation, closest to Bordeaux city. Home to the only Left Bank First Growth outside the Médoc: Château Haut-Brion (and La Mission Haut-Brion, under same ownership). Unique combination of clay-gravel soils, urban heat, and early ripening produces wines with a distinct smokiness, earthiness, and tobacco note. Outstanding dry whites from Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon.
