Côte-Rôtie

'The Roasted Slope' — northernmost and most prestigious Northern Rhône appellation. Côte Brune (iron-rich, structured) and Côte Blonde (sand-silica, perfumed). Up to 20% Viognier co-fermented with Syrah adds violet lift. Guigal's single-vineyard La Mouline, La Landonne, La Turque — aged 42 months in new oak — are among France's greatest allocated wines. 2020 88 Very good. Accessible earlier-drinking style. Côte Blonde (sandier soils) showing particular freshness.
2019 93 Outstanding. Deep, structured Syrah with 20+ year potential. La Mouline showing extraordinary perfume.
2018 94 Excellent. Iron, violet, smoked meat — classic Northern Rhône Syrah at its finest. Rostaing and Jamet also exceptional.
2017 96 Exceptional Côte-Rôtie. Guigal's La La's (Mouline, Landonne, Turque) at extraordinary level. Structured, long-lived Syrah.
