Forested plateau south of Reims. Pinot Noir dominant — most structured, vinous, age-worthy base wines. Grand Cru villages: Ambonnay, Bouzy, Ay. Krug's Ambonnay single-vineyard Blanc de Noirs is one of the world's rarest Champagnes.
