Muscadet / Pays Nantais

Westernmost Loire, near Nantes. Melon de Bourgogne grape — high acid gains complexity through sur lie ageing (5–6+ months on fine lees). Best expressions (Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie, Cru Communaux) develop rich, saline-yeasty character. Textbook wine-food pairing: oysters and Muscadet. The Cru Communaux (Clisson, Gorges, Le Pallet) represent the apex of quality.
