India's premier wine region in Maharashtra state, 170km northeast of Mumbai at 600m altitude. Sula Vineyards pioneered premium Indian winemaking here in 1999 and the region now produces 80% of India's wine. Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Shiraz are the key varieties.
