Patrimonio

Corsica's most prestigious and historically significant wine AOC — the limestone and schist hills north of Bastia in the Cap Corse peninsula producing wines from Nielluccio (Sangiovese — the variety was likely brought by Genoese colonists and represents over 95% of plantings in Patrimonio) and Vermentino (white). Patrimonio reds achieve a unique character: more aromatic and mineral than Tuscan Sangiovese, with a Mediterranean herb intensity and wild cherry quality that reflects the maquis-covered hillsides. The Grenache-dominant and Nielluccio rosés are also exceptional.
