Minervois

Languedoc's most historically significant and geologically diverse wine appellation — the semi-circular amphitheatre of hillsides north of the Canal du Midi in the Hérault and Aude departments, producing Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan blends of warming Mediterranean character from limestone, schist, and clay soils. The sub-zone La Livinière produces some of Languedoc's most concentrated and age-worthy reds. Minervois also produces Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois (the richest of all Languedoc Muscats) and small quantities of white Roussanne-Marsanne-Viognier blends of genuine quality.
