Saint-Chinian

One of Languedoc's most distinctive and under-appreciated appellations, situated in the foothills of the Cévennes north of Béziers where two radically different soil types meet: schist in the northern highlands and limestone-clay in the south. The contrast creates two distinct wine styles within the same appellation — schist-grown Syrah and Grenache produce elegant, aromatic wines with mineral freshness, while limestone Syrah produces fuller, richer wines with more tannic structure. Saint-Chinian represents some of the best value in French fine wine.
