Aragon's most internationally recognised wine region, at the foot of the Pyrenean foothills between Huesca and Barbastro. Unlike most Spanish DOs, Somontano permits a wide range of international varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay) alongside indigenous Moristel and Parraleta. The result is a diverse, modern-oriented wine region producing some of Spain's most approachable and elegant wines.
