Roero

The overlooked twin of Barolo and Barbaresco, Roero sits across the Tanaro River from the Langhe hills on sandy, lighter soils. Home to the Arneis white grape — rescued from near-extinction by Bruno Giacosa and Vietti — and to Nebbiolo-based reds of genuine elegance. Roero Arneis DOCG and Roero DOCG (red) offer Piedmont at more accessible prices with less tannic intensity than Barolo.
