Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Tuscany's most historic DOCGs, produced from Prugnolo Gentile (a Sangiovese clone) in the hilltop town of Montepulciano. The wines occupy a quality tier between Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino — sharing Sangiovese's cherry, herb, and earthy complexity with a distinctive floral lift. The elevated site (250-600m) and unique soils provide elegance that distinguishes it from its Sienese neighbours.
