Rioja Alavesa

The Basque sub-zone of Rioja DOCa, defined by chalky clay soils (alberizas), higher altitude, and a cooler Atlantic influence from the Sierra Cantabria. Produces Tempranillo of greater freshness and aromatic complexity than the broader Rioja region. Village wines and single-vineyard labels are driving a quality revolution.
