The most celebrated appellation for Viognier in the world, on steep granite terraces above the Rhône south of Lyon. Exclusively Viognier — producing wines of extraordinary floral intensity (apricot, peach blossom, violet) with a richly textured, almost oily mouthfeel. The combination of extreme mineral tension on granite with the grape's natural opulence creates wines unlike anything else. Production is tiny; prices are high. Château Grillet is a single-estate appellation within Condrieu.
