Sardinia's signature white wine from the Vermentino grape; granite and schist soils across the island produce aromatic, mineral whites with citrus, almond, Mediterranean herbs and sea-breeze character. The best wines come from Gallura in the northeast (which has its own DOCG) but the island-wide DOC produces excellent quality. Vermentino thrives in Sardinia's Mediterranean climate, producing fuller-bodied whites than on the Ligurian coast.
