Peru — wine

Ica Valley GI

South America's most historically significant wine region outside Argentina and Chile, in Peru's coastal desert south of Lima. The Ica Valley's extreme aridity is countered by irrigation from Andean snowmelt. The region is the birthplace of Pisco, Peru's national spirit, but quality wine production is growing rapidly with Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec, and Merlot showing promise.
