USA — wine

Snake River Valley AVA

Idaho's primary wine region, centered on the Snake River Canyon near Boise at elevations of 2,500–3,000 feet — among the highest vineyards in the continental United States. The high-altitude desert climate brings extreme temperature swings, intense UV radiation, and volcanic basalt soils that produce wines of uncommon intensity. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Chardonnay have proven exceptional in this overlooked American wine region.
