Romania — wine

Murfatlar DOC

Romania's Black Sea wine region, located near Constanța on the Pontic steppe close to where the Danube meets the sea. Murfatlar's unique terroir combines a warm, almost continental Black Sea climate with chalky limestone and loess soils to produce Romania's finest dessert and late-harvest wines. Chardonnay here produces wines of unusual richness, and the late-harvest Muscat Ottonel has achieved international recognition for its extraordinary floral intensity and natural sweetness.
