Slovak Tokaj

Slovakia's portion of the ancient Tokay wine region, encompassing the historic villages of Malá Tŕňa, Veľká Tŕňa, and Čerhov in the Zemplín district bordering Hungary. The volcanic tufa soils and continental climate of the Slovak Tokaj produce Furmint, Lipovina (Linden Leaf), and Yellow Muscat in the same style as Hungarian Tokaj — with Aszú botrytised wines of genuine complexity. The Slovak Tokaj is often overshadowed by its Hungarian counterpart but offers wines of extraordinary finesse at lower prices.
