Tulbagh Wine Ward

South Africa's most dramatically enclosed mountain valley — Tulbagh is a small Ward surrounded on three sides by the Obiekwa, Winterhoek, and Witzenberg mountain ranges, creating an unusual microclimate of warm days, cool nights, and low humidity that preserves natural acidity in Chardonnay, Riesling, Shiraz, and Cabernet Franc. The historic Tulbagh valley is one of the Cape's oldest wine areas, with the town's church street featuring the largest concentration of Cape Dutch architecture outside Stellenbosch. Tulbagh's wine quality is consistently underrated by the broader market.
