Georgia Kartli Wine Region

Georgia's central wine region, located in the Kartli plain around the ancient capital Mtskheta on the Mtkvari (Kura) River at 400–800 meters elevation. The Kartli region produces wines from indigenous varieties including Chinuri (the region's signature white), Goruli Mtsvane, and Shavkapito (red) in a continental climate with cold winters and warm, dry summers. Kartli wines are typically lighter and more mineral than the powerful Kakheti styles — making them the Georgian sommelier's choice for food-pairing precision. Château Mukhrani and Schuchmann Wines produce the region's benchmark wines.
