Switzerland — wine

Switzerland Canton de Genève Wine Region

Switzerland's westernmost wine canton, producing wines from the slopes around Lake Geneva and the Arve-Rhône valley confluence in one of Europe's most consistently overlooked wine regions. Chasselas — Switzerland's signature white grape, known as Fendant in Valais and Dorin in Vaud — dominates, producing wines of distinctive stony mineral and neutral character that pair superbly with Swiss cuisine. Gamay from Geneva's clay soils produces light, fresh reds comparable to good Beaujolais. Geneva wine is almost entirely consumed within Switzerland, making it one of Europe's most authentic insider wine traditions.
