Banyuls AOC

France's finest vin doux naturel appellation in the extreme south of Roussillon, where terraced schist vineyards above the Mediterranean between Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère produce fortified Grenache Noir of extraordinary depth. The Tramontane wind, extreme heat, and direct marine influence create conditions for intense, oxidative Banyuls that can age for decades. The Rancio style — oxidatively aged in small barrels exposed to sun and heat — achieves coffee, dried fruit, and walnut complexity rivalling tawny Port.
