Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Kirchenstück Riesling Grosses Gewächs
Pfalz, Germany
About this product
The Pfalz's most prestigious Grosses Gewächs — a 3.5-hectare parcel of basalt-over-limestone in the heart of Forst, farmed biodynamically since 2005. Kirchenstück translates as 'church parcel' — the medieval Forster church owns a strip through the vineyard. The basalt layer above the Forst limestone imparts warmth and a distinctive stony-mineral character to the fruit: denser and more powerful than Rheingau GG, with tropical fruit notes (pineapple, mango) alongside the classic Riesling mineral structure. Requires minimum 5 years to integrate; at 10 years achieves extraordinary complexity.
