Moric Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben Blaufränkisch
Burgenland, Austria
About this product
Austria's most internationally acclaimed red wine — Blaufränkisch from pre-1960 planted vines in Lutzmannsburg, Mittelburgenland, on iron-rich clay-limestone soils. Roland Velich's approach is deliberately Burgundian: only old-vine parcels, used 500L barriques (no new oak), no fining, no filtration. The result is Blaufränkisch at its most mineral and precise — the iron character of the Mittelburgenland soils expresses as graphite, dark cherry, and a violet-spiced finish that lengthens for 30+ seconds. In top vintages (2013, 2015, 2017) this challenges Premier Cru Burgundy in blind tastings.
