About this product
The only non-Médoc First Growth. Pessac-Léognan. Typically 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc — the most Merlot-friendly blend of the First Growths. The wine has a distinctive earthy, smoky, even slightly roasted character unique to Pessac-Léognan's urban gravel soil. The Merlot component makes it the most approachable young First Growth, yet still ages 25–40 years. Also produces an exceptional dry white (Haut-Brion Blanc — often considered France's finest dry white after Le Montrachet).

Haut-Brion's distinctive smoky-earthy character (from Pessac-Léognan's urban gravel) is amplified by the smokiness of grilled lamb. The truffle jus bridges the wine's tertiary character; spring vegetables add freshness to balance the wine's weight.
