Mondeuse (parent of Syrah) from granite and gneiss at 450m; the most serious red of the Alps. Dark and structured: black cherry, violet, mountain herbs (thyme, rosemary), peppercorn, and alpine mineral. Whole-bunch fermentation; aged in large Savoie oak. The wine that proved Savoie reds deserve serious attention — can age 10–15 years.
