About this product
The wine that launched the modern Barbaresco era — Angelo Gaja's first single-vineyard Nebbiolo from 1961. The Sorì San Lorenzo vineyard faces south-southeast on the Barbaresco hillside; the wines are transparent ruby with garnet; dried rose, tar, wild cherry, leather, and an extraordinary iron-mineral backbone. Aged 18 months in French barriques. Needs 10 years minimum; lives for 30+.

Nebbiolo's rose-tar and iron mineral complexity is the classic companion to white truffle; the pasta's richness is cut by the wine's firm acidity; an Albese combination of the highest order.

Barbaresco's structure and dark cherry depth handles braised veal beautifully; gremolata's citrus brightness echoes the wine's own freshness; a definitive Piedmontese combination.

The wine's tannin and acidity requires a hard aged cheese to integrate; Bra Duro's crystalline depth matches Gaja's mineral core; honey softens the wine's austere finish.
