Jean Stodden Recher Herrenberg Spätburgunder Ahr

Ahr Wine Region, Germany
Germany's benchmark Spätburgunder — from the Recher Herrenberg's near-vertical slate slopes above the Ahr River. Transparent ruby-red; fresh red cherry, dried rose petals, Kirsch, iron, and a silky mineral backbone. Whole-cluster fermented, aged 18 months in French barriques (20% new). At once powerful and weightless — a Burgundian grace in a German structure. Drinks magnificently at 8–18 years.
complement
The wine's silky tannin and red cherry freshness matches wild salmon's richness without overwhelming; the Pinot reduction sauce creates a flavour mirror.

complement
The wine's Kirsch and dried rose character directly bridges the cherry compote; duck's richness is perfectly balanced by Spätburgunder's delicate structure.

complement
The wine's mineral freshness and red fruit purity contrast with the Manchego's nuttiness; Iberico lardo's fat is cut cleanly by the wine's acidity.
