Founded in 1990 with Hugh Johnson among the founders, Royal Tokaji was the first foreign investment in Hungarian wine after communism ended. Their single-vineyard Aszú wines from first-growth (First Class) vineyards like Mézes Mály and Nyulászó are world benchmarks.

Royal Tokaji set the standard for the post-communist revival of great Tokaji Aszú, producing single-vineyard wines that demonstrate the region's terroir diversity and the extraordinary potential of Furmint with botrytis.
