Changyu Pioneer Wine Company Yantai China
Philosophy
China's oldest winery (est. 1892), founded in Yantai, Shandong, by Zhang Bishi to produce European-style wines from the Jiaodong Peninsula's maritime-influenced soils. Changyu's Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling have been China's most internationally recognized wines for over a century.
Reputation
Changyu Pioneer Wine is China's wine pioneer — the first Chinese wine to win international gold medals, the first Chinese wine exported internationally, and the first Chinese winery to host a Western head of state for a wine tasting. The estate's historic cellars are a UNESCO candidate and attract 500,000 wine tourists annually.
