Bodegas Atalaya
Philosophy
Founded 2007 by Jorge Monzón and Equipo Navazos winemaker Jesús Barquín; Garnacha Tintorera from 50–100-year-old vines at 750–900m altitude. Sustainable farming on limestone-clay; minimal intervention, no fining or filtration. The estate single-handedly transformed Almansa's international perception.
Reputation
Atalaya's La Atalaya del Camino is the wine that introduced Almansa to the world; James Suckling awarded 93 points and the wine was featured in Wine Spectator's Top 100. The Garnacha Tintorera old-vine cuvées prove this obscure indigenous variety can produce wines of international stature.
