Almansa DO

Mediterranean interior of Castilla-La Mancha at 700–900m; transition between La Mancha's continental climate and Mediterranean Murcia. Garnacha Tintorera (the only red-fleshed grape in Spain) is the signature variety alongside Monastrell. Limestone and clay soils; dramatic temperature swings produce concentrated but fresh wines. Perennial underdog of Spanish wine producing extraordinary value.
