The reputation — the story that sells at the table
Coche-Dury Meursault Perrières Premier Cru often sells for more than Leflaive's Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru — an astonishing reversal of the hierarchy. The Corton-Charlemagne (only ~120 bottles produced per year) is essentially mythological in availability. Production is 2,000–3,000 bottles per cuvée.

The most coveted white Burgundy producer outside Le Montrachet Grand Cru. Jean-François Coche-Dury's Meursault wines — particularly Perrières and the rare Corton-Charlemagne — command prices that rival Leflaive's Montrachet. The philosophy is reductive winemaking to maximum: the wines are aged in barrel with minimal intervention, no fining, no filtration, and the result is wines of extraordinary concentration and longevity from what are technically 'village' and 'Premier Cru' appellations. Now run by son Raphaël.
