Château L'Evangile
Philosophy
One of Pomerol's finest estates — a 22-hectare property on clay-gravel soils bordering both Pétrus and Vieux Château Certan. Purchased by the Rothschild family (Lafite) in 1990; Jean-Pascal Vazart has directed the estate since 2011 with meticulous viticulture and minimal winery intervention. The wine combines Merlot's sensuousness with a structural backbone from Cabernet Franc.
Reputation
Château L'Evangile is consistently rated among Pomerol's top five estates — the 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2015 vintages have received 98-100 points. The Rothschild ownership brought Lafite's cellar precision to Pomerol's clay terroir, producing wines that combine richness with remarkable definition.
