Michel Lafarge

Frédéric Lafarge continues his father Michel's tradition of producing some of Volnay's purest and most age-worthy wines — biodynamic since 1997, using whole-cluster fermentation and minimal new oak. The estate's Clos du Château des Ducs and Clos des Chênes are among Volnay's most consistently magnificent wines.

Michel Lafarge's estate is considered alongside d'Angerville as the two defining voices of Volnay — their different but complementary approaches (Lafarge: more structure, more whole-cluster; d'Angerville: more delicacy and mineral purity) frame the village's stylistic range. Allen Meadows consistently rates Lafarge at 96-98 points.
