Burn Cottage

Central Otago GI, New Zealand
Burn Cottage was established 2009 by Marquis and Carolyn Sainte-Marie on the Cromwell Basin's schist terraces — one of Central Otago's warmest sub-regions. The estate is fully biodynamic (certified 2013), using indigenous yeast fermentation, whole-cluster inclusion, and no new oak. Winemaker Nadia Fournereau trained at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and brings the Burgundian philosophy of terroir transparency to New Zealand Pinot Noir.
Burn Cottage has become one of Central Otago's most critically acclaimed estates in under 15 years of production — the Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir regularly receives 96-98 points from Jancis Robinson, Wine Advocate, and Tim Atkin. The estate's biodynamic approach has inspired a generation of New Zealand natural wine producers.
