Palácio da Brejoeira
Philosophy
One of Portugal's most historic wine estates — the Baroque palace of Brejoeira (18th century) has been producing Alvarinho since the early 20th century. The estate is fully owned by Maria Herminia Paes de Amaral and produces a single Alvarinho from the property's granitic soils. The estate's grandeur and historical continuity has made Brejoeira the most prestigious name in Portuguese Alvarinho.
Reputation
Palácio da Brejoeira is Portugal's most historically significant Alvarinho estate — the Brejoeira Alvarinho is considered the prestige benchmark for the variety. Tim Atkin consistently awards 93-95 points; the wine's combination of Baroque estate terroir and granitic mineral precision gives it a character that separates it from all modern Alvarinho interpretations.
