Philosophy

Terroir-driven multi-vineyard blends honoring 1970s Napa Cabernet tradition. Winemaker Nigel Kinsman pursues elegance and precision through site expression, emphasizing fine-grained tannins, freshness, and age-worthiness. Sauvignon Blanc crafted with Françoise Peschon using Bordeaux methodology—sur-lie aging in mixed oak, stainless, and concrete vessels.

Reputation

Founded in 2013 by Bart and Daphne Araujo following the sale of their storied Araujo Estate and Eisele Vineyard, Accendo Cellars emerged as a second act of viticultural mastery. The house draws inspiration from Napa Valley's early modern era—the elegant, multi-vineyard Cabernet blends of the 1950s-70s—reimagined through contemporary Oakville and Yountville benchland terroirs.

AllocationMAJOR TRANSITION IN 2025: Accendo Cellars was sold June 2025 by Greg and Jaime Araujo to partnership of Jack Bittner and Bettinelli family—brand/inventory only, no vineyard assets transferred. Now operating as Accendo Estate. Winemaker Nigel Kinsman retained. Production ~900 cases each Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc maintained. New ownership plans estate vineyard at Mitchell Vineyard (Yountville, 15 acres Cab Sauv/Cab Franc planted 2021-2024, first harvest 2025).
