Alpha Omega Winery

Napa Valley, United States
Barrel fermentation of substantial red wine volume to achieve texture and early approachability while preserving ageability. Extended skin contact—up to 90 days for selected lots—without punch-downs develops complexity. Unfined, unfiltered single-vineyard selections express the distinction between valley floor, hillside, and mountain terroirs.
In 2005, vintners Robin and Michelle Baggett arrived in Napa Valley with deep roots in California viticulture; Robin had spent sixteen years as a grape grower and founder of Tolosa Winery in San Luis Obispo, while Michelle crafted the brand vision. Alpha Omega Winery opened in 2006 on the Rutherford Bench, a location nestled at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains where valley floor meets hillside, capturing the essence of Napa's most celebrated terroir.
AllocationProduction figure (15,000 cases = ~180,000 bottles annually) sourced from Napa Wine Project archive dated October 2013; current production may differ. Napa Green certification confirmed 2017. No direct US, UK, or Japan importer identified in sources; distributor list page exists but content not accessible. Winery is self-distributing direct-to-consumer and to trade via company website. Current winemaking team includes head winemaker Matt Brain (promoted 2024, UC Davis graduate) and consulting winemakers Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland. Farming practice listed as 'sustainable' per Napa Green designation; sources indicate transition to organic certification in progress per 2022 podcast interview with Matt Brain. ERA flagship wine rated 99 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2018 vintage). Succession is firmly family-owned; no transition indicated.
