Azienda Agricola Tornatore Francesco

Sicily, Italy
Minimal intervention with native Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, aged conservatively in large-format oak, concrete vats, and stainless steel. Fermentation vessels chosen to preserve freshness and express volcanic terroir with uncommon clarity—dark soils singing through austere minerality and salty tension.
The Tornatore family has cultivated volcanic slopes above Castiglione di Sicilia since the mid-nineteenth century, beginning in 1865. Francesco Tornatore, having built a career as an engineer in Milan, returned in the 1990s to honour his family's ancestral land, founding the eponymous label in 2012 with a state-of-the-art winery and the ambition to prove Mount Etna's promise to the world.
AllocationVineyard acreage reports vary across sources (46 ha, 60 ha, 100 ha total holdings with 46 ha under vine per some sources, 65 ha per others); using 60 ha as most cited for active vineyard management. Farming_practice marked sustainable with EU certification noted but no formal organic or biodynamic certification found in official documents, though multiple sources reference organic and biodynamic practices being employed. LUX Wines importer confirms US distribution since 2018. UK importer Bibendum verified. Production volume unavailable. Winemaker Vincenzo Bambina noted in one source. Contrada focus (Pietrarizzo, Trimarchisa, Pietramarina, Zottorinotto, Crasà, Malpasso, Torre Guarino, Carranco) underscores terroir expression. Family succession currently secure under Francesco and his son Giuseppe's management. | Importer overflow captured (importer_us): 'LUX Wines (E. & J.
