Cave de Lugny

Burgundy, France
Unoaked Chardonnay aged sur-lies in the traditional style, expressing limestone-rich terroir through bright floral aromas, round mouthfeel, and mineral complexity. As the leading white Burgundy producer, the cooperative controls approximately one-third of Southern Burgundy's production.
With roots dating to the eighteenth century when the vineyards of Saint-Pierre, Les Crêts, and La Grande Vigne were already renowned, Cave de Lugny was formally established on 30 January 1927, becoming the second wine cooperative in the Mâconnais. The house merged with Saint-Gengoux-de-Scissé in 1966 and integrated the Cave de Chardonnay in 1994, consolidating dominance over one-third of Southern Burgundy's production.
AllocationFounding date discrepancy noted: one older source states 1926, official cooperative website confirms 30 January 1927. Used 1927.
