Burgundy
France's most celebrated wine region. Home to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in their most complex, terroir-transparent expressions. The classification system — Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Village, Régionale — is the definitive model of site hierarchy. Fragmented ownership (80+ owners of Clos de Vougeot alone) creates enormous producer-dependent quality variation.
