Champagne Robert Moncuit

Champagne, France
Exclusively Chardonnay from chalky Grand Cru terroirs, fermented in 350-liter oak barrels with systematic malolactic fermentation, aged in combination of neutral oak and stainless steel to preserve minerality and tension. Parcels vinified separately; no chapitalization or filtration. Each cuvée reflects chalk subsoils through austere precision and longevity.
Rooted in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger since 1889 when Alex Moncuit acquired the first Grand Cru vineyard parcels, Robert Moncuit crystallized into an estate bottler in 1928 under the founder's grandson, Robert. The domaine stands as guardian of the Côte des Blancs' most revered chalky terroir, now stewarded into its fifth generation by oenologist Pierre Amillet since 2000.
AllocationDiscrepancy noted: some sources (we-love-bubbles.com) cite 3 hectares in Bergères les Vertus; primary sources (Kellogg, Grand Cru Selections, Champagne Characters) consistently report 8 hectares Le Mesnil + 2 hectares Oger = 10 total. We-love-bubbles appears to confuse a secondary facility. Calme Wine conflates Robert Moncuit with Pierre Moncuit (separate Moncuit estate). Kingston Wine Co. identified as first US importer (since 2000). Organic practicing but not formally certified per Grand Cru Selections; some sources cite 'sustainable viticulture in Champagne' certification. Family succession now to Pierre Amillet (fourth generation Moncuit, married to Maud). Historical confusion around 1928 vs. 1935 bottling start: most reliable sources agree 1928 is when Robert created his cuvée and estate-bottled label.
