Château Thivin
Beaujolais, France
Philosophy
Hand-picked fruit vinified separately by plot in cement cuves, aged six to twelve months in large oak foudres. Whole-cluster fermentation preserves Gamay's fruity character; gravity-fed transfer avoids mechanical damage. Bottling timed with natural cycles—a regimen honoring volcanic terroir's mineral expression.
Reputation
Built upon an ancient volcano in the fifteenth century, Château Thivin became the family estate of Zaccharie Geoffray in 1877, the oldest continuously operated property on Mont Brouilly. The Geoffray family played an instrumental role in establishing the Côte de Brouilly appellation during the 1930s, elevating a steeply sloped terroir of blue volcanic rock into Beaujolais' most mineral and structured cru.
