Domaine René Bouvier
Burgundy, France
Philosophy
One wine per climat to express terroir individuality. Hand-harvesting in 20kg boxes, minimal intervention in cellar. Fifty percent whole-bunch fermentation standard; aging in French oak with twenty percent new wood. Seeks physiological ripeness with balanced minerality and freshness.
Reputation
Founded in 1910 in Marsannay by Henri Bouvier, the domaine grew through his son René's stewardship from 1950, reaching twelve hectares by 1991. Bernard Bouvier assumed command in 1992 and expanded the holdings to thirty hectares across six villages of the Côte de Nuits, from the limestone terroirs near Dijon to Vosne-Romanée, establishing benchmarks in Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, and Marsannay.
