winery
Gabin & Félix Richoux
Burgundy, France
Philosophy
Grapes destemmed entirely, fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged one year in stainless steel tank followed by one year in large oak foudres. The estate yields no more than 45 hectoliters per hectare, prioritizing concentration and mineral expression of Kimmeridgian limestone terroir.
Reputation
The Richoux family has cultivated vines in the amphitheater-shaped village of Irancy since 1610, establishing themselves as custodians of this northernmost expression of Pinot Noir in Burgundy. The 11th-generation brothers inherited a patrimony rooted in mineral limestone—Kimmeridgian and clay—and a philosophy of terroir transparency that their grandfather Jean Claude first crystallized when he became Irancy's first full-time winemaker.
