Gabin & Félix Richoux

Burgundy, France
Grapes destemmed entirely, fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged one year in stainless steel tank followed by one year in large oak foudres. The estate yields no more than 45 hectoliters per hectare, prioritizing concentration and mineral expression of Kimmeridgian limestone terroir.
The Richoux family has cultivated vines in the amphitheater-shaped village of Irancy since 1610, establishing themselves as custodians of this northernmost expression of Pinot Noir in Burgundy. The 11th-generation brothers inherited a patrimony rooted in mineral limestone—Kimmeridgian and clay—and a philosophy of terroir transparency that their grandfather Jean Claude first crystallized when he became Irancy's first full-time winemaker.
AllocationHectare figure conflict: producer website and some sources cite 18 hectares; Hand Picked Selections and other importers cite 20. Used 18 from official producer domain. Founding year 1610 attested across all sources; one source (Vynluna) initially cited 1620 but corrected in context. Organic certification confirmed as 2013-2014 (sources vary slightly, official site says 2013); biodynamic from 2021 harvest per Polaner and Vynluna. Brothers took over management in 2016 after studying at Viticole de Beaune (joined domaine 2012). Succession appears complete; domaine now operates under their names, Thierry still referenced as father/predecessor. No Michelin stars, no cult status, but critically recognized (95 points Decanter 2025). Importers identified via multiple retailer and distributor sites; Hand Picked Selections and The Source Imports are primary US entries. Production volume estimated at ~10,000 bottles annually based on 20ha, 45hl/ha yield, but conservative figure given specialty market. Cross-producer parallels drawn from mineral/cool-climate reputation and terroir focus. | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Vynluna Wines (Hong Kong)' | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Galiena Pte.
