E. Guigal
Philosophy
The most famous and commercially important Rhône producer. Marcel Guigal took a small négociant operation started by his father Étienne in 1946 and built it into the dominant Rhône house. The 'la-las' (La Mouline, La Landonne, La Turque — the three single-vineyard Côte-Rôtie) are aged 42 months in new oak and released ~5 years after vintage. They are consistently among France's most allocated wines and have driven global interest in Syrah and the Northern Rhône. Also produces Côtes du Rhône at the other end of the range — a reference value Rhône.
Reputation
Marcel Guigal received the Decanter Man of the Year award in 2000 — the only négociant-producer in the award's history to be so recognised. The la-las are among the most sought-after French wines after DRC.
