Philosophy
The most famous Pinot Noir-focused grande maison. The Renaud-Cointreau family (still independent — no LVMH or Pernod Ricard ownership). Key: La Grande Année (vintage) is one of the most age-worthy non-prestige Champagnes. R.D. (Récemment Dégorgé — recently disgorged) is their prestige cuvée, aged an extraordinary 8+ years on lees then disgorged to order. Bollinger is the only grande maison still fermenting reserve wines in magnums (larger bottle = slower oxidation = fresher reserves). The BBC's James Bond has been a Bollinger devotee since the 1970s.
