Ulysses Vineyard

Napa Valley, United States
Minimalist approach with attentive observation and restrained intervention. Hand-harvested at perfect ripeness with meticulous cluster and berry selection. Wines aged approximately 20 months in 45-50% new French oak, yielding expressions of singular terroir—pure, balanced, and refined Cabernet Sauvignon with grave-stone minerality and silky tannin structure.
Situated along Napa Valley's storied Oakville bench and once part of the historic Charles Hopper Ranch—first cultivated in 1873—Ulysses Vineyard was acquired by Christian Moueix in 2008. The name reflects the property's devotion to patient mastery: through meticulous vineyard restoration and deep study of gravelly clay loam soils and microclimates, Moueix has transformed a dormant site into one of Oakville's most compelling estates.
AllocationCCOF organic certification received May 10, 2021 (vineyard farming only; winemaking not certified organic). Vineyard holdings: 31.5 acres (12.75 hectares) verified. Production ~800 cases/year converted to ~4,800 bottles. Producer website accessible but contact form non-functional; estate information sourced primarily from Moueix.com and distributor sites. No direct US importer identified; wine distributed through UK-based Dreyfus, Ashby & Co. and Corney & Barrow (also UK). Established 2008 but first commercial vintage 2012. Plantings consistently reported as ~85-90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5-9% Cabernet Franc, 5-6% Petit Verdot. Winemaker: Tod Mostero (trained Bordeaux, previously at Château Haut-Brion, DRC). No Japanese importer located. Proprietor remains Christian Moueix; son Edouard manages Bordeaux operations (Ets J-P Moueix portfolio including Pétrus, Trotanoy, La Fleur Pétrus). Website domain available but limited content reflects typical luxury estate posture. References to 'estate bottled' and 'Napa Valley' on labels; no aliasing detected.
