Veuve Fourny & Fils
Champagne, France
Philosophy
Meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification with minimal intervention. Partial malolactic fermentation, selective barrel aging in neutral Burgundy oak, and restrained dosage—typically 2–6 g/l—to amplify the chalky minerality of Vertus. Unfined, unfiltered, no sulfur additions during fermentation.
Reputation
Founded in 1856 by Albert Ferdinand Fourny in the Premier Cru village of Vertus on the Côte des Blancs, this grower estate inherited its name from Albert's widow when she assumed direction in the 1950s. Today, fifth-generation brothers Charles-Henry and Emmanuel steward nearly nine hectares of old-vine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir across forty distinct chalk-terraced parcels, continuing a legacy rooted in the mineral precision of southern Champagne.
